Privacy Policy

A plain-language explanation of what data this site handles, why, and what your choices are.

Last updated:

TechInPractice is a free educational platform. There are no user accounts, no login, and no subscription email list. You can read everything on this site without giving us any information at all. This policy describes what happens in the situations where data does flow — when you use the contact form, when our hosting infrastructure logs requests, and when Google AdSense shows you advertisements.

What TechInPractice Collects Directly

Because there are no user accounts on this site, the only personal information we ever receive directly from you is what you choose to send us through the contact form. That means your name, your email address, the subject you selected, and the message you wrote.

We use contact form submissions to respond to your message. We do not add you to a mailing list, share your details with third parties, or use your contact information for any purpose other than replying to what you sent us. If you ask us to delete a message you sent, we will do that.

Contact form submissions are handled through our API backend running on Cloudflare Workers. They are not stored in a publicly accessible database. Messages are read by the team and not archived indefinitely.

Infrastructure and Hosting Logs

TechInPractice runs on Cloudflare Pages. When you visit any page on this site, Cloudflare's infrastructure processes your request. This involves standard server-side logging that any web host produces: your IP address, the page you requested, the time and date of the request, the HTTP status code returned, and basic information about your browser and device.

This is not data we have configured or control in detail — it is standard infrastructure logging that occurs at the hosting layer. Cloudflare's own privacy policy describes their data handling practices at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

We do not use this infrastructure log data to build profiles of individual users. We use aggregate metrics — total page views, most-visited pages, geographic distribution of visitors — to understand which content is most useful and where to focus future development.

Cookies — What Is Set and Why

This site sets a small number of cookies. Here is an honest description of each:

Cookie consent preference

When you respond to the cookie consent banner (accept or decline), we store your choice in a first-party cookie so we don't show you the banner again on every page load. This cookie does not contain personal information. It expires after 365 days.

Google AdSense cookies

If you accept cookies, Google AdSense sets third-party cookies to serve advertisements. These cookies are set by Google's domains, not ours. They allow Google to show you ads that are relevant to your interests based on your browsing history across sites that use Google's advertising network. See section 9 below for detailed information and opt-out options.

Analytics cookies (if accepted)

If you accept cookies, we may use analytics cookies to understand aggregate traffic patterns — which pages are visited, for how long, and in what sequence. We use this to improve the site. We do not use analytics cookies to identify individual users.

If you click "Decline" on the cookie consent banner, only the consent preference cookie is set. No AdSense tracking cookies or analytics cookies are placed. You will still see advertisements, but they will not be personalized to your interests.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not sell your personal information to any third party.
  • We do not have a marketing email list. We will never email you unless you contacted us first.
  • We do not require registration or login to read anything on the site.
  • We do not track individuals across sessions using first-party identifiers.
  • We do not use dark patterns to encourage you to accept cookies you wouldn't otherwise accept.
  • We do not share contact form data with advertisers or data brokers.

Your Rights

Under GDPR, the UK GDPR, and equivalent privacy regulations in various countries, you have rights over your personal data. In the context of TechInPractice, the most practically relevant ones are:

Right to access

You can ask us what personal data we hold about you. In practice, for most visitors, the answer is: nothing, unless you used the contact form.

Right to erasure

You can ask us to delete any contact form message you submitted. Email us at [email protected] with your request.

Right to withdraw consent

You can withdraw cookie consent at any time by clearing your cookies for this site. The consent banner will reappear on your next visit, allowing you to choose again.

Right to lodge a complaint

If you believe we have handled your data incorrectly, you can complain to the supervisory authority in your country. In India, this would be the Data Protection Board under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act. In the UK, it is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Age Restriction

TechInPractice is an educational platform aimed at software developers and IT professionals. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us a contact form message, please email us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy — for example, if we add a newsletter or change how we handle contact form data — we will update the date shown at the top of this page. We will not notify visitors by email because we do not have your email address unless you contacted us. If you want to stay informed about policy changes, the most reliable approach is to bookmark this page and check it occasionally.

9. Third-Party Advertising and Google AdSense

TechInPractice uses Google AdSense to display advertisements on our website. Google AdSense is a service provided by Google LLC that helps website publishers monetize their content through targeted advertising. By using our website, you consent to the display of these advertisements and the collection of data for ad serving purposes.

Data Collection by Google AdSense

Google AdSense and other third-party ad networks may collect and use the following information:

  • IP Address: Used for geographic targeting and fraud prevention

  • Browsing History and Interests: Pages visited on our site and other sites to build interest profiles
  • Referrer Information: The page you came from and URLs of visited pages
  • Search Queries: Search terms used to find our site

How Data is Used

This data is used for:

  • Displaying personalized and relevant advertisements based on user interests
  • Measuring ad performance, impressions, clicks, and conversions
  • Preventing fraud, invalid traffic, and abuse
  • Improving ad targeting, delivery, and user experience
  • Creating and maintaining audience segments

Cookies and Cookie Consent

We display a cookie consent banner on your first visit to our site. By clicking "Accept All," you consent to:

  • Storage of cookies on your device for personalized ads and analytics
  • Google AdSense and other ad partners using cookies to track your browsing across websites
  • Sharing your data with Google and approved advertising partners

You can withdraw your consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies or adjusting your browser cookie settings.

Your Ad Choices and Opt-Out Options

You have several options to control personalized advertising:

Important Note About Ad Opt-Out

Opting out of personalized advertising does not mean you will see fewer ads. You will still see ads on our site, but they may be less relevant to your interests. Non-personalized ads are still targeted based on general information like your location and the content of the page you're viewing.

Google's Privacy Policy

For detailed information about how Google collects and uses data through AdSense, cookies, and other technologies, please review Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Educational Content Disclaimer

Our website provides educational content about corporate software systems, business domains, and practical development skills. This content is provided for informational and educational purposes only. The presence of advertisements on our site does not constitute endorsement of advertised products or services. We maintain editorial independence in our content creation.

Data Retention

Google and ad partners retain data for limited periods (typically 90 days for cookies) or until you clear your browser data. You can request deletion by opting out through the methods mentioned above.
